Arduino MKR NB 1500 is an Internet of Things (IoT) development board with wireless connectivity based on narrowband (NB) IoT standards. NB-IoT communications technology uses existing LTE cellular networks and delivers significantly faster communications than alternative IoT networks such as LoRa and Sigfox while having a low impact on battery consumption. In addition, compared to typical GSM or 3G cellular connectivity, wake-up times and connections are much faster, enabling significant power savings.
The MKR NB 1500 is powered by a Microchip Technology SAMD21 Cortex-M0 32-bit low-power ARM MCU and features the Arduino MKR footprint, ensuring that it is fully compatible with the Arduino Uno, Mega, and existing MKR boards. The MKR NB 1500 offers a wide range of interfaces, including I2S, I2C, UART, and SPI. The Board operates at 3.3V and offers 22 digital I/Os, 12 PWM outputs, and seven analog inputs.
The MKR NB 1500 is ideal for applications in remote areas with no internet connection or power available, such as on-field monitoring systems, and also, Smart metering (electricity, gas, water), Facility management services, Home and commercial Intruder and fire alarms, Connected personal appliances measuring health parameters, Smart parking Asset tracking, Smart city infrastructure, and Connected industrial appliances (welding machines, air compressors), etc.
